Atlanta Pickle Center Season 7  Overview

 

Participants & Teams:

    •    100 Players (50 males, 50 females)

    •    50 Teams, each with two co-ed partners selected randomly in our pre-season draft

 

Pre-Season Draft Details:

    •    Partner Matching: To keep pairings balanced, the top 10 males and top 10 females from the previous season will be matched with either new players or those with a lower rating.

    •    Rating Scale: Players input their skill level during registration to help with fair partner matching. If unsure, players can choose “Beginner.”

    •    Random Pairings: All other participants will be randomly paired during the draft.

    •    Special Pairing Requests: Couples who wish to play as partners should notify the Pickle Commissioner before the draft.

Weekly Game Structure:

To create an exciting and challenging experience, players will compete each week within similar skill levels:

    •    Each court will have five teams (ranked 1-5, 6-10, etc.), and the court rotations will shift weekly based on rankings.

    •    Each week, teams move up or down based on their performance, making each game a chance to rise in the standings.

   •   Each team will play 4 games a night to 11 points, with an 10 minute game cap to keep things moving. 

 

Game Weeks:

    •  4/24 Week 1 : Regular Games - Wear White

    •   5/2  Week 2:  FRIDAY GLOW NIGHT (Note: Six teams per court instead of five)

    •   5/8   Week 3: Regular Games- No Theme

    •   5/15  Week 4: Regular Games - Pajama Emo Night

    •   5/22  Week 5 - Playoffs -  Wear All Black

Playoff Format for 50 Teams:

1. First Round (of 50 teams):

  • 50 teams are involved in this round.

  • Byes: The top 14 ranked teams (ranked 1–14) will receive a bye into the next round.

  • Remaining 36 teams (ranked 15–50): These teams will compete in 18 matches, with the winners advancing.

After First Round:

  • 14 teams with a bye.

  • 18 winners from the first round.

  1. First Round: 36 teams play, 14 teams get a bye.

  2. Second Round: 32 teams compete, 16 winners.

  3. Quarterfinals: 16 teams, 8 winners.

  4. Semifinals: 8 teams, 4 winners.

  5. Final: 4 teams, with either a single-elimination or round-robin format.

 

 

PDB Mission:

The Pickleball Development Bureau (PDB) is dedicated to the mission of offering a social yet exciting pickleball community where players are able to showcase their skills. Therefore, ensuring fairness and balance in talent distribution throughout the league is crucial for an enjoyable and competitive season for all participants. The above team pairing approach not only promotes fairness, but it also allows for an inclusive environment where players are able to learn, develop, and most importantly, be a part of a social community and have fun!
